Lisa Hatton and her husband Bryon have opened their
home and hosted most meetings of The Ram’s Head Writers’
Group since the summer of 2003.
In the early 1980s Lisa started writing poetry which was published
in The Aldergrove Star and read on the radio by Roy Jacques at
CKWX. She was a member of Poets’ Potpourri in Abbotsford
and had poetry included in their chapbook. At their yearly Special
Event, she learned to enjoy reading in public.
Switching to prose, Lisa tried her hand at writing a weekly column
in The Aldergrove Star and also wrote several personal articles
published in The Province newspaper in Vancouver.
Since moving to Langley in 1994, she has turned her hand to fiction
and creative non-fiction. Her non-fiction has twice placed 2nd
in The Wired Monk writing contest. In the same contest, one of
her poems also placed 2nd in the poetry category.
Lisa produces The Ram’s Head Review which is a synopsis
of mermbers’ works presented at the last meeting and any
relevant news or announcements. It is emailed to all members and
any other interested parties and will now also appear on this
website.
Lisa has written a novel loosely based on arson attempts she
dealt with as assistant property manager of a very large townhouse
complex. But she also enjoys writing short articles or stories
that give her a more immediate sense of accomplishment when they
are finished sooner.
And when she’s not writing or working as a self-employed
bookkeeper, she spends time trying to stay in touch with her son
and daughter, both now living out of province. Being part of a
writers’ group has helped fill the void of an empty nest.
