Sent: Sunday, July 16, 2006 10:50 AM Subject: The Ram's Head Review Hello Fellow Rams, Thursday's meeting was very short, just Bob and Ellie and myself. Bob read first, another piece of the history of the jewellery business in B.C. We heard of Karl Stritgen, an immigrant from Germany who had been forced to join the Hitler Youth. He opened his first business in 1953, European Watchmakers, at 16th and MacDonald. He later moved to Marine Drive in West Vancouver, and the name of the business changed several times. He opened other stores in Calgary and San Francisco. He retired once, but then started up again. He remarried after his first wife died, and in 1996 he sold and retired to Pender Island. Ellie read some more to us from her fantasy novel, which she still hasn't named. Jarod, Medala, Drusana and Leala had made it to the coast, but Jarod was afraid of sailing. So Drusana takes Leala in the boat. Jarod tells Medala about the river Faithful going dry, and then the two of them go to rescue Adros, who tells them he had been imprisoned for months. He supplies Jarod and Medala with horses and an escort, and they catch up with Drusana and Leala down the coast. I read a short article I had written about being able to read people by their receipts, the stories I can discern from how they spend their money. This is one of the skills I've acquired as a bookkeeper. Our meeting was very short, and we decided to take a summer break. We will not meet again for the next 3 weeks, so you can all put down your pens now. The semester is over. The next meeting will be here at my place at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 10th. I will send out a reminder once again before that date. Happy summering! Hope you have something wonderful to write about in the meantime! Lisa
