Sent: Sunday, September 17, 2006 12:02 PM Subject: The Ram's Head Review Hello Fellow Scribes, Isn't it wonderful now the weather's cooler? I feel like doing so much more. There were seven of us sharing the written word here Thursday night. Jean said she called her elderly Dad in Ontario about her story of getting lost. He said the beach was Crystal Beach, about a 25 minute drive from where they had lived, still in Canada. So that was good that she could pinpoint the setting. Jean later read her poem "Bicycle Route", about choosing to ride along one path, and at the end realizing it would be an arduous ride back home and wishing she had a car. Very humourous ending. Nathaniel finally made it to a meeting and we were so pleased to see him. Heard about his trip to Churchill, Manitoba and the way the roads in that area are built. With his wife and cousin, he camped on the prairies and almost became targeted by lightening during one storm. At the old family farmstead, Nathaniel found some memorabilia he wants to keep. One item was an old atlas published in the 1890's. Fascinating. And Nathaniel's good news is that a prominent agent in Washington, D.C. has shown interest in his novel "The Gallows And The Sea", and thinks it has movie potential. She told him if he made some changes she would probably offer representation. He has re-submitted the changed novel, and is just waiting for her response. We are all holding our breath and keeping our fingers crossed for Nathaniel. I had a note from my son who wants to set up a website for our writers' group. So am asking everyone to think about what it should include and forward suggestions to me. So far we've discussed and agreed on including the weekly Ram's Head Review. And names, pictures and bios of members, including individual email addresses or website links. Lynette has self-published books to sell. Susan is a freelance journalist/editor. So a website could benefit us as writers in numerous ways. As for domain name, am hoping we can get www.ramsheadwriters.ca . If not, any other suggestions? Please do up your writing bios, as well as a picture of yourself, and send them to me by email. This is for all members, out of towners as well. And send any other suggestions of things we should include. This is so exciting! Bob read his re-write about Karl Stitkin, the watchmaker/jeweller who was born in Germany and later imigrated to Canada. Ellie read to us about Gamadon being summoned by the Priestess to obey the Goddess. He can only seek revenge against Jarod with the permission of the Goddess, or he could be stripped of his powers. The body of Melrick is about to be rolled into the flames and Gamadon sees the flames as his own fate, either dead or alive. Susan read the next Chapter of her brother's novel, showing Cleaver Bill at the lawyer's house to give the lawyer a warning. He leaves his car at the theological college and assaults the young guard who told him to move his car. When he comes back to his car, two policemen are watching for him. Ann is now in Australia for a month. Jean is leaving on Tuesday for 2 weeks in Israel. Haven't heard from Michael, but think he might be in the Ukraine by now. Margaret Moffatt emailed and said she is getting settled into her new apartment and hopes to attend a meeting soon. Gemma was home nursing two sick pups, she said, one of them human. So, September has arrived and lots of exciting possibilities as well. Our next meeting will be here at my place, Thursday, Sept. 21st, at 7:00 p.m. Keep writing and hope to see you then. Lisa
