THE RAM’S HEAD REVIEW
August 19, 2007
Thursday night was quiet, with just Ellie, Bob and myself being faithful to the cause.
I had three communications from Sonny. The first was to tell me that our reserved domain name of ramsheadwriters.ca for our website, would be expiring. I contacted the provider and reserved it for another two years at the cost of 42.40. Sonny had paid for the first year. So any donations of 2.00 or 3.00 from individual members would be appreciated. Thank you very much.
Another communication was a letter from Capt. Barb Honig, one of our Military Engineers in Afghanistan, explaining the restoration projects they plan and work on over there. Nice to know constructive things are happening.
And Sonny also informed me that he will be deployed to Afghanistan from April 2008 till Feb. 2009. Before then, he will be spending 6 months at Petawawa, driving home to Kingston on weekends, starting in October of this year. Can’t say I was too happy to hear this news, but he and Chantal both assure me they know far more soldiers who have come back from Afghanistan than ones who haven’t. The military is forever optimistic.
Anyhow, my thinking now is that I would like to see a section on our website set up for “Letters From Afghanistan” for Sonny or any of his comrades to add to in order to inform us back home what they deal with over there. Let me know your thoughts on this.
Bob read more of his rewrite. He is going great guns with this, and thoroughly enjoying himself now that he has taken the chains of “provable fact only” off his creativity. We heard Jacoby Bros. often asked their accountant to represent them in Union negotiations. The company was also hired to clean a number of big and intricate trophies, one of which was for the Highland Pipe Band competitions. In 1955, Bob’s Dad had several strokes and then passed away in June 1956. His stepmother then became President of the company. At 25 years of age, Bob was actually running the business while his brother Al was out selling. In 1963, Bob married Carole.
Ellie read about a character named Dimic Ru, a leader of men, who had great skill at magic, delusion and precognition. He had brought 3 continents together. This is a continuation of the same story Ellie has been reading the past several weeks.
Bob and I both phoned Susan on Thursday, and all is fine with her and her family. She said the minute she walked into her new home she felt totally at home and at peace. She and her mother are both very thankful she is back in Nfld.
Next meeting here at my place Thursday, August 23rd at 7:00 p.m. Hope to see you then.
