2007
We partied again Thursday night
to celebrate Susan’s 40th birthday and Nathaniel’s 46th.
There were cards and presents and Black Forest cake and smiles all around.
Susan was going away for a family ski weekend, and Nathaniel and Tracy
are hoping to be living aboard their new sailboat docked at Victoria
by sometime in April. We will miss him very much.
Bob and Susan both brought
a number of books to give away. That is always like Christmas
to a group of writers.
Margaret read more Peabody
to us. We heard that Rev. Peacock would be late getting to the
castle while Rev. Peabody left earlier by train and had to sit beside
a woman prattling like the parrot. And then he arrived at the
most ominous looking castle with moat.
Susan read of Barley reminiscing
about geo-caching when he was with his Dad in Japan. After finding
the cache at Hi-Knoll Park, he heads to another at Fleetwood.
Nathaniel read part of his
revised ending which shows Rose pregnant, treated badly by Declan, her
husband. Declan also tells Alexander to stay away from Rose.
Gov. Semple takes Declan away to avaoid conflict and Alexander goes
to Rose. They have a bittersweet goodbye, knowing that they cannot
be together. Very heartwrenching.
Jean read more of her story,
telling about David before he ends up staying at the boarding house.
He has lost both parents, has trained as a carpenter, and is engaged
to Elsie. He plans to stay in his hometown and work at the docks
for a year to save money before he marries Elsie. Lots of background
information here.
And the other five of us had
nothing to read. For shame. Lynette is off to California
and won’t be here for a couple of weeks. And Hemingway is still
a no-show.
Next meeting will be here at
my place on Thursday, March 1st at 7:00 p.m. May you
be inspired by The Muse in the meantime. See you then.
