Thursday’s meeting was fun with five of us worshipping the Muse. We all had something to read.

Bob read first and we heard that for Jacoby Bros., business was good during the years 1974 to 1981. They bought property at the corner of Richards and Drake, and had plans drawn up to build, but costs just kept escalating. Inflation was rearing its ugly head, too.

Ellie read that Tatro lead the other two out of the cave in the tree to a meadow where they were all happy to breathe fresh air under the stars. Even though they are very tired after three days in the caverns, they decide they must keep watch and Dafen goes first.

Margaret read that Rev. Peabody was stewing about what Marie had said about his younger brother’s upcoming wedding being in sin. He discusses it with the Revs. Peacock and Peasly. Peasly tells him to go to the wedding and writes an acceptance letter and makes Peabody sign it. Peabody will be going to the wedding on Guy Fawkes Day.

Carolann had three poems to read. The first was “Old Teddy Bears” about two teddies being separated in old age, one in a trunk, and one in the attic. Sad. The next one was “Death” about how death in a hospice setting is usually unannounced and leaves so much grief behind. The third poem was “Cancer” , telling how it is the invader and armour has to be donned to battle it. She wasn’t sure any of these poems would be suitable to send to Seniors Today, but we assured her she should send them. They all reflect experiences that readers have gone through, too.

I read the next two chapters in my novel, “Fire”. Very short chapters, showing Dan attacking Bert, Miles showing up with a 2 X 4, and then Tanner and Cam arriving and Dan being taken down.

The roofers had said they would show up by Friday, but didn’t. No idea when it will happen. But Bob insists on hosting the next meeting at his house on Thursday, Sept. 13th at 7:00 p.m. His address is 20764 – 91A Ave. (Walnut Grove) and directions are: Go north on 208th Street from 88th Ave., turn left at 90th Ave. which has a pedestrian crossing, then right onto 206th, then right onto 91A Ave. Their house is at the very end of the cul-de-sac.

Look forward to seeing you at Bob’s. Happy writing for you in the meantime.
